Why the approach at Krung Watch produces different results.
Documentation, calibrated testing, and maker-referenced procedures are not embellishments. They are the work itself.

Written Condition Reports
Every assessment produces a written document. Timing machine figures, visible condition notes, suggested priorities — all recorded and handed to the owner, not recalled from memory later.
- Rate, amplitude, and beat error recorded
- Owner receives a physical copy
- File kept on-bench for future visits
Calibrated Measurement Equipment
Our timing machine and pressure test equipment are maintained to current standards. Readings taken on dated, uncalibrated instruments are of limited value — ours are not.
- Timing machine checks before and after service
- Pressure testing for water-resistant models
- Results recorded in service documentation
Maker Procedures Referenced
Where manufacturer service documentation is accessible, we work to it. Lubricant type, quantity, placement — these vary by calibre. We look them up rather than approximate.
- Calibre-specific lubrication applied
- Deviations discussed before proceeding
- Original parts sourced where available
Longitudinal Service History
We log every job. When a watch returns to the bench after several years, its previous readings and work are on file. This makes each subsequent service more informed than the last.
- Persistent per-watch records
- Previous findings consulted at each visit
- Trends in performance noted over time
Communication at Each Stage
Owners are contacted when the watch arrives, when assessment findings are ready, and when the piece is ready for collection. Nothing proceeds without agreement on scope and cost.
- Written assessment before any service commitment
- No surprise charges on collection
- Post-collection follow-up welcomed
Transparent, Fixed Service Fees
Our service prices are published. The diagnostic assessment is ฿2,800; the full automatic service is ฿4,200; water resistance work is ฿7,500. Parts costs, where applicable, are quoted separately before work begins.
- Fees known in advance
- Parts quoted separately, with owner approval
- Diagnostic not bundled into service fee
A closer look at each advantage
Specialist training in modern automatic movements
The skills needed to service a modern automatic movement well are not the same as those needed to service a general electrical appliance or an older mechanical watch from an earlier era. Our team trained specifically in the calibres and techniques relevant to watches made within the past three decades — the period for which our standard service is designed.
This specialisation means we are not attempting to apply broad general knowledge to every situation that arrives at the bench. When we encounter a specific calibre, we are likely to have seen it before, to know its characteristics, and to know which of its components wear at a rate worth monitoring.
Measurement instruments rather than approximation
A watch regulated by feel and habit will perform differently from one regulated against a timing machine with reference to the maker's stated rate target. The timing machine captures what the human sense of time cannot: variations in rate across positions, the amplitude at which the balance is running, and the beat error — the degree to which the two sides of the escapement are matched.
We take these readings before and after every service, and both sets of figures appear in the written report. The before-figures tell the owner something about the watch's condition at intake. The after-figures confirm what was achieved by the service.
A process built around the owner's understanding
The diagnostic assessment is designed as a standalone service precisely because we think an owner should understand what their watch needs before deciding what to spend. It is not a sales tool for the larger service — it is a document with information in it, delivered honestly, regardless of what decision the owner makes next.
When a full service does proceed, every significant finding is shared before work begins. If the movement reveals a worn part that adds to the cost, we contact the owner with an explanation and a quote. Nothing is fitted without consent.
Pricing that reflects actual scope
Our three services have published prices. The diagnostic is ฿2,800; the full automatic service is ฿4,200; water resistance restoration is ฿7,500. These fees cover the labour involved. Parts replacement, when required, is quoted separately before any component is sourced.
This structure means an owner who needs only a diagnostic pays only for a diagnostic. A full service is not assumed from the moment the watch arrives, and the diagnostic cost is not used as a deposit toward larger work. The two are separate transactions.

Features you will not find at most workshops
The diagnostic as a decision-making tool
Most workshops treat assessment as a step on the way to invoicing. At Krung Watch, the ฿2,800 diagnostic is a complete service in its own right — a document that helps the owner decide whether, when, and how much to spend. It can be used to inform a purchase decision, to set a budget timeline, or simply to satisfy curiosity about a watch that has been sitting in a drawer.
Before-and-after timing records
It is common practice to regulate a watch after service and not mention the starting figures. We record both. The starting figures show what condition the movement was in at intake. The after figures show what the service achieved. Together they make the service report genuinely informative rather than a receipt with a technical-sounding header.
Service records available on future visits
We maintain records for watches that have been through the bench. If a watch returns three years later, the previous service data is available. This allows us to note whether amplitude has declined since the last service, whether a part replaced previously has continued to perform well, and whether the rate target achieved last time is still being maintained.
A referral policy for pieces outside our scope
We specialise in modern automatics. If a watch falls outside this range — vintage pieces, complicated movements requiring factory support, watches with damage beyond bench repair — we say so. We would rather direct an owner to the right specialist than accept a job and produce a result we cannot stand behind.
